Why Do We Need Organization?
The phenomenon of organization is the necessity of social living. In this respect, the history of organization is as old as the history of social living. In social living, all living things aim to preserve their condition and continue their lives. With this aspect, organization turns into an obligation of social living in terms of the necessity of surviving and meeting the needs. It is aimed at creating practical and intellectual structures, planning and organizing.
The phenomenon of sovereignty, power and domination has caused radical changes in social relations and understanding of organization. The quality of the social system and the changes in its relations have affected the understanding and mode of organization, and in this respect, the phenomenon of organization has turned into a special formation together with class society. In class society, organizations based on private formation led to the emergence of gigantic organizations (Family, state, party, law, communication, media, etc.). Organization and the mode of organization evolved with every social system, evolving from simple organizational forms and styles to more complex organizations. The system has strengthened the relations of exploitation and domination by constantly renewing itself at the point of organization and has been able to manage the oppressed social categories in a stable manner, except for certain interruptions. The oppressed social categories did not stand idly against the dominant classes within their own means and fought against the system by creating their own alternative understanding and modes of organization. The struggle is not only against the dominant class, which holds power. At the same time, there is the struggle within themselves of the oppressed, based on the comfort of their privileged position in social categories.
Against What and Why Should We Be Organized?
Throughout history, humans have established anthropocentric class systems, and as systems evolved from the simple to the complex, the relations of exploitation and domination acquired a specific character in all different dimensions and categories. Patriarchy is now integrated with capitalism and has become immanent in the system by carrying its own character to capitalism. In capitalism, the labor-capital contradiction, seeing women as cheap labor, not being paid for domestic labor, the consumer industry based on the beauty myth is fed by the masculine domination over the female body and the otherize of women in general. The categories that binary heteronormative privileges and are privileged in all spheres of social life render all other existences that express themselves outside the binary gender system even more invisible. The colonization of oppressed nations and nationalities, the perception of immigrants as cheap labor, the forced labor of children, the commodification of living things, education, science, technology and nature, and the monopoly of the media multiply the relations of exploitation and domination in all categories of society. For example, the power of human over animals has reached such a level that today the problem of speciesism, the commodification of living things in industrial processes and violence against animals in capitalism are only one dimension of this domination relationship. This relationship of exploitation and domination dominates all social relations. This power relationship is closely related to sexism, racism, and LGBTI+ phobia in society. It has become inevitable for the people who slaughtered animals to see themselves privileged according to people belonging to the oppressed class, oppressed nations and nationalities, sexes and sexual orientations. There are different dimensions and categories in the capitalist system. The system rises over all these relations of exploitation and domination. These relations are not only revealed in the macro structures, institutions, rules and laws of the system. At the same time, those who are “victims” of the exploitation and domination relationship of the system in one or another social category become part of the politics of the system by maintaining their privileged position (offender) over the oppressed in other categories and identities. Therefore, it becomes meaningful to explain the multiple structure and character of the system with the definition of kyriarchy. The relations of exploitation and domination produced by the system reveal the possibility and necessity of the social segments who say that another life and existence is possible, to organize against the system.
What Kind of Organization Do We Need?
The purpose of the organization determines the methods and tools to be used. It’s not just about what we want to do; it is also a matter of how we do. The way we realize ourselves or how we act ourselves in life, affects the quality of answer of “What kind of organization do we need?” question. We want to fight against the system, exploitation and domination, but at the same time we consider this struggle together with gaining our own power of activity and transforming ourselves. We act from the awareness that the exploitation and domination relations of the system are not only embodied in macro structures, but also spread to the whole of life, our body and our intellectual structure, and that while fighting against the system, at the same time, fighting against ourselves can liberate us. In this context, we place rebellion and action at the center of our struggle. Rebellion and action contain the potential to change both us and life. Social life is full of mass of understandings and organizations that claim that they act for self-realization of people and society. But many of these organizations and understandings are alienated from the individual, society and hence its purpose. Such understandings and organizational formations have taken their place in the social garbage of history, and life will host the followers of this understanding in the social garbage of history. All organizations that ignore the individual’s need to realize themselves and reveal his potential, and reduce them to a simple tool in achieving the organization’s own goals, serve the reproduction of the system by alienating from their goals, discourses and themselves, no matter how they define themselves. In this context, we are putting awareness against all the alienations of the capitalist system that objectifies us with the relations of exploitation and domination, alienates us, hinders our power of activity and our power to act. We believe that the proposition “awareness against alienation” is praxis that can lead us to our basic purpose, that is, to a communal life.
Creating the struggle of a radical overcoming of the alienation that the capitalist-imperialist system has produced in life and instead enabling a communal life based on solidarity and awareness without postponing it to an uncertain future, can only be possible with the correct and coordinated use of understanding, method and tools. As the Socialist Student Movement, we invite you to organize against all relations of exploitation and domination of the capitalist system, to struggle and to knit communal life knot by knot, with the awareness that it is a necessity to organize for a communal life without borders, classes and domination.
In line with these purposes, we are launching a campaign with the motto REVOLT. We REVOLT against the capitalist-imperialist system, the reproduction of the system, fascism, patriarchy, homophobia, transphobia, colonialism, the domination of human over the all creatures and nature!
We call on to REVOLT those who are oppressed in any area of life, those who want to say “end” to domination and alienation, those who are futureless due to the capitalist system, those who feel slapped on their cheeks when someone else is slapped.
No force can beat an organized society!
